Wall shelves fail in two places: the shelf and the fixing. A 500 mm span in particleboard bows under books inside a year, and the bow is permanent. A concealed-fixing shelf hides the second problem rather than solving it — the load still arrives at one or two plugs in the wall, and there is no way to inspect them once the shelf is up.

RNF-0003 separates the two jobs. A folded aluminium bracket does the structural work: it runs the full 500 mm, and its return leg carries the load into three fixing points against the wall. A second plate sits above it on spacers and is the surface you use.

That separation is what produces the gap. Seen from the side, the shelf reads as two lines rather than one slab, and the shadow between them is what makes 5 mm of aluminium look like a deliberate thickness instead of a thin one. Four bolts pass through it. They are not hidden and they are not decorative — they are how it holds together, and leaving them visible is what makes the piece serviceable.

Nothing about the fixing is concealed either. The three wall points stay accessible, inspectable and replaceable, and the anchor is chosen for your wall rather than supplied blind for a wall we have not seen.

It ships raw. No coating, no lacquer, no film — the surface you see is mill-finish aluminium, as it comes off the roll and out of the brake. This is a shelf that shows how it was made rather than hiding it.

Manufactured in Zagreb to our own drawing. The alloy specification, tolerances and finish are ours — which means custom lengths, custom colours and project quantities are quoted from the same drawing rather than sourced from someone else's catalogue.

H111 Magnesium is the principal alloying element in the 5000 series, and it is what gives the alloy corrosion resistance in humid air without any surface treatment at all. This is why these pieces can be supplied raw and why uncoated aluminium does not behave like uncoated steel: the oxide film forms in seconds, it is self-repairing, and scratching through it simply starts the process again. The practical consequence is that there is no finish to fail. Nothing chips, nothing peels, and no cut or folded edge is more vulnerable than any other part of the surface.
One material, full section
The failure mode of the category is delamination. A laminate face over a particleboard core has an edge that must be sealed with a separate material, and moisture at that seam lifts the band and swells the core. Everything in this line is cut and folded from a single sheet — one material through the full section, with every visible edge a radiused fold of the same stock. There is nothing applied and nothing that can come off.
Surface variation
Mill-finish aluminium carries roll lines and handling marks, and sheen varies between faces and between pieces. This is inherent to raw material and is not a defect. If you require a uniform surface, order the piece powder coated.
Powder coating
Polyester powder coat in any RAL colour, no additional charge. Cured after fabrication, so the film is continuous across folds and no cut edge is left uncoated. Coated pieces are suitable for covered outdoor use; raw pieces are indoor only.

Care & cleaning
Routine cleaning
Wipe with a soft cloth, warm water and a pH-neutral detergent, then dry the surface. Raw aluminium shows fingerprints and water marks more readily than a coated surface — cosmetic, and it evens out as the patina develops.
Do not use
Strongly alkaline cleaners, including caustic soda and oven cleaners. These etch aluminium and the damage is permanent. Also avoid strong acids, chlorine bleach and abrasive powders.
Restoring the surface
Unlike a coating, a raw surface can be worked. Scratches and uneven patina come out with a fine abrasive pad worked in one consistent direction, then wiped clean. Work the full face rather than the mark alone, or the repair will be more visible than the damage. Patina The surface darkens slightly and evens out over the first months of use, faster in handled areas. This is the oxide layer building and it protects the metal. Leave it or take it back — both are fine.
If powder coated
Neutral detergent only, no abrasives, no solvents. Touch up any chip promptly with a coating matched to the original RAL reference.

Shipped flat packed by courier within Croatia and across the EU. Cost and transit time are confirmed per order — contact us with your address before ordering.
On arrival
Check the carton before signing. If there is visible damage to the packaging, note it on the carrier's delivery document at the point of signature. Photograph any damage and contact us within 48 hours.
Packaging
Flat packed in a single carton with the assembly hardware. Panels are separated and edge-protected. Raw panels are film-masked for transit; remove the film after assembly.
FAQ
  1. What fixings do I need?
    None are supplied, because the right anchor depends on the wall rather than on the shelf. Solid brick or concrete takes a standard M8 anchor. Aerated block needs an anchor rated for it. Plasterboard is the one to be careful with — see below. All three points must be used, and the holes take an 8 mm anchor.
  2. Can I fit it to plasterboard?
    Only into a stud, or with a metal cavity anchor rated for tension. The shelf projects almost 200 mm, so a load at the front edge pulls the top of the bracket away from the wall rather than pushing down on it. At 30 kg that works out at roughly 34 kg of pull-out per fixing. Standard plastic plasterboard plugs are not sufficient. If you are unsure what is behind the wall, have it fitted by a tradesperson.
  3. How much can it actually hold?
    30 kg spread evenly, correctly fixed into solid wall. Concentrating that at the front edge reduces it substantially. The aluminium is not the limit here — the wall and the anchors are.
  4. Does it need to be level, and can it be adjusted?
    The three fixing holes are round, not slotted, so set the line out carefully before drilling. Once fixed, the shelf sits where the holes put it.
  5. Can I get it in another length?
    Yes. The bracket and the top plate are cut from the same drawing, so length is a parameter rather than a redesign. Beyond about 800 mm an additional fixing point is advisable. Quoted on request.
  6. Will the two plates rattle or shift?
    No. They are bolted through solid spacers and clamp up rigid. As with any bolted assembly, check and re-tighten after the first few weeks.
