Desk risers are made down to a price. Vinyl-wrapped MDF that swells at the corners, 1.5 mm folded steel that drums every time you type, acrylic that scratches within a month. They sit under a monitor that cost twenty times as much and look like something the monitor was shipped in.

RDF-0001 is one piece of 5 mm sheet aluminum, folded twice. There are no joints, no fasteners and nothing to assemble — not as a design flourish, but because a single folded section does not need them. Nothing can work loose, because nothing was joined.

The rise is 80 mm, leaving 500 × 75 mm clear underneath. A full-size low-profile keyboard slides under and stays there. The top is 500 × 250 mm, which takes the foot of a large monitor or an all-in-one without overhang.

At 5 mm across a 500 mm span it does not flex under a screen, and it does not resonate. The section is the point: thin material has to be braced, ribbed or doubled to feel solid. Thick material simply is.

It ships raw. No coating, no lacquer, no film — the surface you see is mill-finish aluminum, as it comes off the roll and out of the brake. Under a black monitor on a wooden desk, that reads as a piece of metal rather than a piece of equipment.

Manufactured in Zagreb to our own drawing. The alloy specification, tolerances and finish are ours — which means custom widths, custom heights, custom colors and project quantities are quoted from the same drawing rather than sourced from someone else's catalogue.

Material & durability
Aluminium–magnesium alloy, EN AW-5754
H111 Magnesium is the principal alloying element in the 5000 series, and it is what gives the alloy corrosion resistance in humid air without any surface treatment at all. This is why these pieces can be supplied raw and why uncoated aluminium does not behave like uncoated steel: the oxide film forms in seconds, it is self-repairing, and scratching through it simply starts the process again. The practical consequence is that there is no finish to fail. Nothing chips, nothing peels, and no cut or folded edge is more vulnerable than any other part of the surface.
One material, full section
The failure mode of the category is delamination. A laminate face over a particleboard core has an edge that must be sealed with a separate material, and moisture at that seam lifts the band and swells the core. Everything in this line is cut and folded from a single sheet — one material through the full section, with every visible edge a radiused fold of the same stock. There is nothing applied and nothing that can come off.
Surface variation
Mill-finish aluminium carries roll lines and handling marks, and sheen varies between faces and between pieces. This is inherent to raw material and is not a defect. If you require a uniform surface, order the piece powder coated.
Powder coating
Polyester powder coat in any RAL colour, no additional charge. Cured after fabrication, so the film is continuous across folds and no cut edge is left uncoated. Coated pieces are suitable for covered outdoor use; raw pieces are indoor only.

Care & cleaning
Routine cleaning
Wipe with a soft cloth, warm water and a pH-neutral detergent, then dry the surface. Raw aluminium shows fingerprints and water marks more readily than a coated surface — cosmetic, and it evens out as the patina develops.
Do not use
Strongly alkaline cleaners, including caustic soda and oven cleaners. These etch aluminium and the damage is permanent. Also avoid strong acids, chlorine bleach and abrasive powders.
Restoring the surface
Unlike a coating, a raw surface can be worked. Scratches and uneven patina come out with a fine abrasive pad worked in one consistent direction, then wiped clean. Work the full face rather than the mark alone, or the repair will be more visible than the damage. Patina The surface darkens slightly and evens out over the first months of use, faster in handled areas. This is the oxide layer building and it protects the metal. Leave it or take it back — both are fine.
If powder coated
Neutral detergent only, no abrasives, no solvents. Touch up any chip promptly with a coating matched to the original RAL reference.

FAQ
  1. Will it scratch or mark my desk?
Self-adhesive felt strips are supplied and should be fitted along the underside of both legs before use. Bare aluminum sitting directly on a wooden or laminate desk will mark it and will slide.
  2. Will it hold my monitor or all-in-one?
Rated for 15 kg centred, which covers a 27-inch all-in-one at around 10 kg and any standard monitor comfortably. The 250 mm depth takes most monitor feet without overhang. Check your monitor's foot dimensions against 500 × 250 mm before ordering if the base is unusually wide.
  3. Does a keyboard fit underneath?
The clear opening is 500 × 75 mm. Low-profile and full-size keyboards fit. Mechanical keyboards with tall cases may not — measure the height of yours if it sits above about 70 mm at the back.
  4. Does it wobble or resonate?
No. It is a single folded section, so there are no joints to move and nothing to work loose. At 5 mm the top does not drum when you type, which is the usual complaint with thin folded steel risers.
  5. Is there cable routing?
No. Cables pass through the open sides, which on a 500 mm span is more usable than a fixed cut-out. Adhesive cable clips can be fitted to the underside if you want them retained.
  6. Can I get it in another size?
Yes. Width, depth and height are parameters on the same drawing, not a redesign. Useful if you are matching a specific desk depth or a monitor foot. Quoted on request.
